Speed is a maker number on a named arrow, not a story

TenPoint rates the Titan M1 at 370 feet per second with a 370-grain Pro Lite, and 360 with a 410-grain Pro Elite. Wicked Ridge rates the Invader 400 at 400 feet per second with a 370-grain carbon, and about 380 with the heavier aluminum they pack. Barnett rates the TS380 at 380 feet per second with a 380-grain arrow. Those are maker numbers on named weights. A heavier hunting bolt will be slower. That is allowed.

Do: write the arrow weight you will hunt. Don’t: a “we shot 400” that does not name the grain. Rated glasses before the first string. A dry-fire is a bow you take back to the shop, not a shrug.

TenPoint Titan M1 — forward-draw, 370 on a 370-grain Pro Lite

The Titan M1 is a forward-draw hunting bow: 180-pound draw, 14-inch power stroke, 32.5 inches without the stirrup, 14 inches axle-to-axle uncocked and 9 cocked, about 6.4 pounds on TenPoint’s sheet. VX-5 inverted cams. Optional ACUdraw that TenPoint says takes cocking effort to about five pounds. A 3x Pro-View on a fixed dovetail is the usual package glass.

It is not a reverse-draw. It is not a 400-foot story. It is a narrow, older TenPoint that still shows up used and as certified pre-owned. Sit on it. Confirm ACUdraw versus a rope sled on that serial. Then write the check at a licensed dealer.

Do: a shop that still talks to TenPoint on strings. Don’t: a “Titan” mailbox with a plastic rest and no paper. Sights if the glass is already the fight. The bow still wants TenPoint or a dealer.

Wicked Ridge Invader 400 — 400 on a 370-grain carbon, still forward-draw

Wicked Ridge is TenPoint’s value line. The Invader 400 is a forward-draw, 185-pound assembly, 13.5-inch power stroke, 35.5 inches long, 19 inches uncocked and 15 cocked, about 6 pounds. TenPoint’s sheet puts 400 feet per second on a 370-grain carbon and about 380 on the heavier Wicked Ridge XX75 aluminum in the box. ACUdraw or ACUdraw 50 lives in the stock on the packages that include it.

It is not a reverse-draw. A reverse-draw Invader is a different sentence someone wrote. This one is a narrow forward-draw you can still find used. Sit on the ACUdraw. If the package is ACUdraw 50, that is a 50-percent rope, not the five-pound crank. Name which one is in the stock before you pay.

Do: the same shop that will still press a Wicked Ridge string. Don’t: a “400 fps” flyer with no grain. A compound shop is a different cam. This is still a crossbow last.

Barnett TS380 — 380 on a 380-grain, a rope cocker in the box

Barnett rates the TS380 at 380 feet per second with a 380-grain arrow, about 201 pounds of draw, a 12.6-inch power stroke, CNC aluminum track, TriggerTech trigger, 4x32 multi-reticle Halo, and a rope cocking device in the typical package. Independent write-ups that named a chrono have put it a few feet under the sheet. That is how advertised speed works. It is still a 380-class hunting bow.

Barnett does not use TenPoint’s ACUdraw. A sentence that hangs ACUdraw on a TS380 is a mix-up. The TS380 is a rope-cocker bow with an adjustable length of pull and a pass-through foregrip. Sit on the length. Confirm the rope that came in the box still has two hooks and a handle you trust.
