What this magazine is

Articles, photos, and product notes on this site are general outdoor information: gear, skills, places, and stories. Conditions outside change. A route, a load, a season, or a law that was true when we published may not be true on the day you go. You are responsible for your own safety, licenses, tags, training, and local regulations.

This site is not:

• Professional hunting, boating, medical, or legal advice.
• A firearms safety course, a hunter-education certificate, or a substitute for a range officer.
• A weather service, a tide table, or an ice-thickness guarantee.
• A dealer. We do not sell the products on the page; retailers do.

Outdoor risk

Hiking, hunting, shooting, paddling, skiing, riding, and camping can injure or kill you. Read the article, then still check the forecast, the ice, the wind, the map, and your own limits. We are not liable for decisions you make in the field, including gear you buy after reading a review.
