Privacy policy

Outdoors Magazine is a magazine, not a social network. We do not run user accounts, and we do not sell mailing lists. This page is what we actually do with information — not a generic template.

Information you send us

If you write admin@outdoorsmagazine.net or use the contact form, we receive whatever you include: usually a name, email address, and message. The contact form opens your mail app; it does not store a copy in an account database on this site. We use that correspondence to reply, to fix a broken link, or to consider a pitch. We keep email as long as the conversation is useful, then we delete it in the ordinary course of clearing mail.

We do not sell, rent, or trade those messages.

What we do not collect

• No logins, profiles, or “save my gear list” accounts.
• No payment cards. Purchases happen on Amazon or another retailer, under their terms.
• No precise GPS from this site. We are not a maps app.

Cookies and similar tools

We do not set a first-party advertising cookie to follow you around the web, and we do not currently run Google Analytics or a similar tag on this magazine. We may add aggregate traffic measurement later (pages viewed, device type, referring site). If we do, it will be to understand the magazine, not to build a file on you by name.

Third parties we already load or send you to may set their own cookies:

• Amazon. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com. Amazon may set cookies on its domain to attribute a later purchase. That is Amazon’s privacy policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure.
• Fonts. We load Oswald and Source Serif 4 from Google Fonts. Google may log the request (IP address, browser) under Google’s policies.

Your browser can block third-party cookies. The magazine will still read. Amazon links may then fail to credit us; that does not change the article.

Embedded media

Some articles include a YouTube thumbnail that only loads the player if you choose to play it. If you play a video, YouTube (Google) may collect data under its terms. Product photos hosted on this site stay on this site.

Children

This magazine is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us an email, write admin@outdoorsmagazine.net and we will delete it.

Your requests

To ask what we have from you (typically: an email thread) or to ask us to delete it, write admin@outdoorsmagazine.net from the address you used. We will not make you jump through a fake “privacy portal.”

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page. The current version is the one that applies.
