How to spot an affiliate link

  • Buttons and text that say “Check price on Amazon” or “Shop on Amazon.”
  • Product photos that link to an Amazon product page.
  • Links marked rel="sponsored" in the page source. Those are advertising links under FTC rules.

A commission is paid only if you buy through that link, usually within Amazon’s cookie window. If you search Amazon on your own and buy the same item, we do not get paid. That is fine. Use the retailer you already trust.

Editorial independence

We pick gear because it belongs on the page — a job it can actually do, a skip when it cannot. A commission does not buy a ranking. We do not invent prices, “was $X now $Y” theater, or review scores we did not earn. If a product was provided by a maker, we say so on that page. Most of what we link is simply for sale at Amazon.
