Whitetail Summit Honors Legends

The Whitetail Summit 2009 set a new standard for sporting shows at the Whitetail Summit diner sponsored by Trijicon the evening of Saturday, September 10, 2009.

"I don't have the final figures on how many people were at the dinner," said Jeff Fraser, show promoter and CEO of Great White Productions, "But I know we had pre-ordered food for 350 and there wasn't much left," he said.

Three awards were given out during the evening. The first was a check presentation to the Pine Grove Program by Outdoors Magazine. In their September issue, Outdoors raised close to $3,000 for the program which provides free hunting and fishing trips to people with disabilities.

"This money will be used to add a handicap-accessible bathroom on one of our cabins which we are desperately in need of so we can accommodate more people with disabilities," said Bob Howe of the Pine Grove Program.

The Hall Of Fame Award sponsored by Beagle Outdoor Wear went to Larry Benoit, honoring his lifetime contributions to the sport of deer hunting. Barry Wensel made part of the presentation to Larry who could not be in attendance due to health reasons. Benoit's sons, Lanny and Shane, accepted on their father's behalf.

"The absolute best part of the evening was when the Benoits and Wensels were telling stories about Larry," said James Austin of Outdoors Magazine. "The crowd loved it-couldn't get enough of it. The Benoits and Wensels fed off of each other and it was by far the best time I have ever had at an awards banquet," he said.

The final award of the evening was the Outdoors Magazine Civic Award which honored Hunt To Feed, a Connecticut based group which combines the fundamentals of deer management with providing venison to the hungry.

"Hunt To Feed epitomizes the standards of our civic recognition award," said Austin.

"I want to make sure to thank Trijicon, Beagle Outdoor Wear, Outdoors Magazine, Great White Productions, and an incredible group of exhibitors," said Fraser. "Without all of them, the Whitetail Summit, awards ceremony, and show would have never been such a success.

Hunting Greats Invade New York

The biggest names in deer hunting will be assembling for the first time ever at the debut of the highly anticipated Whitetail Summit 2009 and the Ultimate Sportsmen's Experience this September at the 98,000 square foot Adirondack Sports Complex (Dome) in Queensbury, NY.

Among those scheduled to appear and host seminars are the Benoits (Larry, Lanny, Shane, & Lane), R.G. Bernier, Hal Blood, Joe DiNito, Craig Dougherty, Neil Dougherty, Jim Massett, Alan Probst, Dan Schmidt, and Dick Scorzafava.

"It really is one of the greatest line-ups ever assembled of people who understand all aspects of the white-tailed deer and how to hunt them," said show promoter Jeff Fraser. "What is even more impressive is that this list isn't complete. We are still waiting to sign contracts with some other huge names in the whitetail world."

In addition to deer hunting, the three-day show will include seminars by other recognized sportsmen. "By no means is it just a 'deer hunting' show," said Fraser. "The 'Ultimate Sportsmen's Experience' part of it includes bass pros, trout fishermen, fly casters, predator hunters, turkey callers, dog trainers, fly tiers, antique sporting goods appraisers, taxidermists, Boone & Crockett scorers, ice fishermen, goose hunters, trappers - you name it and they will be there," he said.

"We are not sparing any expense when it comes to the show's seminars and promotion," said Fraser. "We have literally combed the East to also bring in some of the latest high-tech interactive attractions, wildlife displays, kids activities, and highly acclaimed select exhibitors," he said. "This is a show unlike any other that has even been in the area before."

The show will open on Friday, September 11 and run through Sunday, September 13. In addition to seminars, the whitetail experts will assemble on Friday night for a special panel to answer audience questions. On Saturday evening, September 13, all the deer hunting personalities will again regroup in a relaxed setting with ticket-holders for candid conversation and dinner.
