May Photo Contest Winner
Outdoors Magazine is proud to announce that Dan Carlson of Sidney, Nebraska is the winner for the month of May in the
Outdoors Magazine Memorable Moments Photo Contest.
"May had dozens of great photos entered into the contest which all could have won," said
Outdoors Magazine editor Kyle Scanlon. "It was a tough choice for our judges, but the rarity of a double rainbow and the vibrant colors made it tough to beat," he said.
According to winning photographer Dan Carlson, he took the "Double Bow" shot southeast of Hot Springs, SD in the summer of 2005 right after a severe hail storm moved through the area with very heavy rain.
"The beautiful colors of the shot have always inspired me," he said.
As a monthly winner, Carlson will receive an assortment of outdoors-related items and be entered into the competition finals where they have a chance to win a hunting or fishing trip at Pine Grove Lodge in Pleasant Ridge, Maine.

Magazine is currently accepting photos for the month of July.
Photo submissions from previous months will also automatically be re-entered
into the competition. To enter, send photos via email to amanda@elkpublishing.com.
Please include your name, address, and any pertinent information
about the photo in the body of the email. Entries are also
accepted via regular mail at 531 Main Street, Colchester, VT
05446. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you
would like them returned.
